Thesis:The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was a turning point in world history because it was one of the main events that eventually led to the start of World War I. On June 28, 1914, Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by a Serbian terrorrist by the name of Gavrilo Princip, which then led to an ultimatum given to Serbia by the Austrian goverment. When Serbia did not agree to the ultimatum, they went to war with Austria, and soon after, many countries were involved in the war known as World War I.
